CarteNav’s management team is entrepreneurial, it’s creative, it boasts deep-seated technical expertise and an inside knowledge of the industries it serves. The company’s leaders are supported by a pool of remarkably talented software architects, engineers and project managers. The strength of this talent pool is its deep expertise in problem solving, its ability to recognize opportunities to adapt open sources, and talent at implementing operator-friendly solutions quickly and efficiently.

Lynn Mason

Chief Executive Officer

As a former commander of the Canadian Navy, Lynn Mason understands the critical importance of a clear and articulate operating picture.

Vice Admiral Mason has held some of Canada’s most senior military posts, including his appointment as Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff. He has also had responsibility for managing the Navy's capital program. This vast operational experience - especially in the areas of decision-making processes and their supporting systems and technologies – underpins his contribution to CarteNav Solutions, and its clients.

In recognition of his work since leaving the Canadian Forces, he has been awarded honorary doctorates from the Royal Military College of Canada and Dalhousie University.

Rick MacDonald

Chief Technology Officer

Rick MacDonald is one of the founders of CarteNav Solutions. He is an expert in sensor integration and embedded systems and has three decades of technology and business development experience in the nuclear power, robotics and aerospace industries.

For the past 15 years he has worked extensively in the area of situational awareness with emphasis on the application of electro-optics for ISR. Mr. MacDonald’s special talent is his ability to look into the future to understand what is technologically possible, and then to design and develop products to meet the future demands of industry.

Paul Evans

Chief Operating Officer

Paul Evans contributes his extensive experience in the areas of security, solution architecture, and program management at all responsibility levels to his role as Chief Operating Officer at CarteNav Solutions.

Prior to joining the company in 2010, he worked with a large global systems integration firm for thirteen years, the last six as a senior executive. With a Masters degree in Computer Science he brings both a fundamental understanding of CarteNav's products and his extensive business management experience to CarteNav. He provides the bridge between product development, project management and good business practices.

Michel Lechmann

Chief Financial Officer

In addition to his role as Chief Financial Officer, Michel Lechmann P. Eng. is the AIMS-ISR® Product Manager. He has been working with electronics for over 20 years, graduating in 1999 from the Technical University of Nova Scotia with an Electrical Engineering Degree. He has nine years of service in the Navy, first as a Naval Electronics Tactical Technician and then as a Combat System Engineer.

In 2002 Mr. Lechmann co-founded CarteNav with Rick MacDonald and Chief Software Architect John Garden. He has an extraordinary capacity to guard the company’s bottom line, and a genius for systems design and engineering.
