Industry-led Research & Development

Research and development is a cornerstone in the growth and development of CarteNav Solutions. In fact, you might say the company was born and bred in international defence labs. For instance, the company developed the AIS Vessel Management System experimental network under Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) Atlantic. Other key research and development projects also include the LUCIE project under DRDC Valcartier, and work for the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) of Australia, both of which ultimately led to the development of AIMS-ISR^®.

Partnering with Clients to Create Superior, Operationally-tested Solutions

AIMS-ISR^® enjoys a unique competitive advantage: thousands of hours of in-flight operational testing with the New Zealand and Australian Air Forces’ P-3 fleets. Real-time, operational feedback from pilots, sensor operators and flight commanders helped transform AIMS-ISR^® into a situational awareness solution without equal. And the experience contributed immensely to a company-wide appreciation and understanding of the requirements of international militaries.

Customizing Technology to Meet Diverse Customer Requirements

CarteNav’s surveillance and tracking capabilities extend beyond AIMS-ISR^® – to one of the harshest environments on earth. To assist the Canadian government in a major project that would see it track the movement of ice floes in the Arctic Ocean, CarteNav developed an Enhanced Tracking System (ETS). Although we no longer market this product, 19 ETS 500s are still regularly deployed to the Arctic.
